Becoming a rabbit owner can be exciting and relaxing. But on the other hand its not easy because bunnies are fragile creatures.
But if you really know what you are doing then you will be a cheerful owner. If you are new to keeping rabbits then its highly recommended that you discover all you can in rearing these creatures. Once you learn about raising bunnies then you will be prepared for what is in front of you.
Rabbits are high maintenance creatures which require a lot of attention and affection. Although they are cute cuddy creatures that you might think are not harmful, in reality they may hurt you if you handle them in a manner they don’t like. Their back legs are strong and they use them to kick you off. So before you make the decision in rearing rabbits they are some things that you may want to learn.
– There are different sizes of bunnies. They are small bunnies that can be kept in small shelters and are not good for meat production. Then they will be the bigger ones that need a lot of space to live in. These are the bunnies that are raised for the production of meat and breeding.
– When it comes to feeding rabbits you have to know that they are non-meat eaters, so you can not feed them meat. You should feed them chewy veggies like carrots and cabbages. You can also feed them rabbit pellets since they have a lot of nutrients which will help them grow more powerful and healthier. A supplementary diet of hay or alfalfa may be given to them as well.
– You must decide if you wish to keep indoor or outdoor rabbits. If you want to keep outdoor rabbits then you must ensure you offer protection for them. You should build them shelter and a protective fence. Rabbit houses must be made from stainlesss steel cages or wood cages because bunnies can eat on the wood.
Raising bunnies is not the easiest thing to do but at the same time its not that difficult. Just care for them by giving them proper housing, feeding them right and also some little cuddling.
