When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your domestic swine to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired pig pen which is spacious as well. You must place your pig pen in a flat place that is free from mud that may attract insects.

Your pig pen must be large enough to accommodate all your swines and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you can install hog wire and concrete slabs. The surrounding fence should be buried 6 inches deep in the ground so that the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.

To absorb odors that the pigs produce you may put hay plus straws on the ground. You can also design sections in the house where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A good roofing is required as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rainwater.

After you have designed a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right swine breed for your project. This must be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your swine from a seller who has found out what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.

Once your swine are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food and clean water on daily bases. Remember to clean the pen every once in a while to ensure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A healthy hog will produce quality meat thus bringing you more revenue.
