When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your pigs to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired pig pen which is spacious as well. You should place your swine pen in a flat area that is free from mud that may being insects.
Your pig pen must be large enough to accommodate your entire pigs and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The surrounding fence must be buried 6 inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb odors that the pigs produce you can put hay plus straws on the ground. You can even design sections in the house where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A good roofing is required as well to protect your pigs from extreme weather like heat and rainwater.
After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right pig breed for your task. This should be done carefully. Make sure that you buy your pigs from a seller who has learned what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your swine are in their houses all you need to do is take good care of them. You can do this by providing them with food plus clean water everyday. Remember to clean the pen every occasionally to ensure that bacteria doesn’t develop in the pen. A proper hog will produce quality meat thus giving you more income.
