When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your domestic swine to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired pig pen which is spacious as well. You should place your pig pen in a flat place that is free from mud that may being insects.
Your pig pen must be large enough to accommodate all your pigs and should be comfortable to your pigs as well. To make it comfortable you can install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The fence should be buried six inches deep in the ground so that the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb smells that the pigs produce you may put hay and straws on the floor. You can even design parts in the pen where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A good roofing is needed as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rain.
After you have designed a pig pen you then go ahead in getting the right swine breed for your task. This needs to be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your swine from a seller who has learned what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your swine are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. You can do this by providing them with food plus clean water everyday. Remember to clean the pen every once in a while to make sure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A proper pig will produce quality meat thus giving you more income.
