When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your pigs to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired pig pen which is spacious as well. You must place your pig pen in a flat area that is free from mud that may being insects.
Your swine pen should be large enough to accommodate your entire pigs and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you can install hog wire and concrete slabs. The fence should be buried six inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will ensure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb odours that the pigs produce you may put hay plus straws on the ground. You may also design sections in the pen where your swine can feed, sleep and relieve themselves. A nice roofing is necessary as well to protect your pigs from extreme weather like heat and rain.
After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in getting the right swine breed for your project. This should be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your swine from a seller who has learned what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your pigs are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food plus clean water on daily bases. Also remember to clean the pen every once in a while to make sure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A proper hog will produce quality meat thus bringing you more income.
