When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your pigs to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired swine pen which is spacious as well. You must place your swine pen in a flat area that is free from mud that may attract insects.
Your swine pen must be adequate to accommodate your entire swines and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The surrounding fence must be buried six inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb smells that the pigs produce you may put hay and straws on the ground. You can even design sections in the pen where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A good roofing is necessary as well to protect your pigs from extreme weather like heat and rainfall.
After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in getting the right swine breed for your project. This should be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your pigs from a seller who has learned what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your pigs are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food plus clean water on daily bases. Also remember to clean the pen every occasionally to ensure that bacteria doesn’t develop in the pen. A proper hog will produce quality meat thus bringing you more revenue.
