When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your domestic swine to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well ventilated swine pen which is spacious as well. You must place your swine pen in a flat place that is free from mud that may being insects.
Your pig pen must be large enough to accommodate your entire domestic swine and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire and concrete slabs. The fence should be buried six inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will ensure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb smells that the pigs produce you can put hay plus straws on the floor. You can even design areas in the house where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A good roofing is required as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rain.
After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right pig breed for your project. This should be done carefully. Make sure that you buy your pigs from a seller who knows what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your pigs are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food and clean water everyday. Also remember to clean the pen every once in a while to ensure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A healthy hog will produce quality meat thus giving you more income.
