When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your pigs to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired swine pen which is spacious as well. You must place your pig pen in a flat area that is free from mud that may attract insects.

Your swine pen must be large enough to accommodate your entire pigs and really should be comfortable to your pigs as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The fence should be buried 6 inches deep in the ground so that the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will ensure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.

To absorb smells that the pigs produce you may put hay and straws on the ground. You can even design parts in the house where your pigs can feed, sleep and relieve themselves. A nice roofing is necessary as well to protect your pigs from extreme weather like heat and rain.

After you have designed a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right swine breed for your project. This has to be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your pigs from a seller who knows what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.

Once your pigs are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food plus clean water on daily bases. Remember to clean the pen every occasionally to ensure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A healthy pig will produce quality meat thus giving you more profits.
