When beginning pig farming you should first plan on where you want your domestic swine to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well ventilated swine pen which is spacious as well. You must place your pig pen in a flat area that is free from mud that can attract insects.
Your pig pen should be adequate to accommodate your pigs and really should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you can install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The fence must be buried 6 inches deep in the ground so that the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb smells that the swine produce you may put hay and straws on the floor. You can even design areas in the house where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A good roofing is required as well to protect your pigs from extreme weather like heat and rain.
After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right swine breed for your project. This should be done carefully. Make sure that you buy your swine from a seller who has learned what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your swine are in their houses all you need to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food and clean water on daily bases. Also remember to clean the pen every once in a while to make sure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A proper pig will produce quality meat thus giving you more revenue.
