When beginning pig farming you should first plan on where you want your pigs to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired swine pen which is spacious as well. You should place your swine pen in a flat area that is free from mud that may attract insects.
Your pig pen should be large enough to accommodate your entire domestic swine and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire and concrete slabs. The fence should be buried 6 inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will ensure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb smells that the swine produce you can put hay plus straws on the ground. You can even design sections in the house where your swine can feed, sleep and relieve themselves. A nice roofing is required as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rain.
After you have designed a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right pig breed for your project. This needs to be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your swine from a seller who knows what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your swine are in their houses all you need to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food and clean water on daily bases. Also remember to clean the pen every once in a while to make sure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A healthy hog will produce quality meat thus giving you more revenue.
