Being a rabbit owner can be fun and relaxing. But on the other hand its challenging because rabbits are delicate animals.
But if you know very well what you are doing then you will be a happy owner. If you are new to raising rabbits then its recommended that you learn all you can in raising these creatures. Once you learn about rearing rabbits then you will be prepared for what is ahead of you.
Bunnies are high maintenance creatures which need a lot of attention and affection. Although they are cuty creatures that you may think aren’t harmful, in reality they may hurt you if you handle them in a way they don’t like. Their back legs are very strong and they use them to kick you off. So before you choose the decision in rearing rabbits they are some things that you need to learn.
– There are various sizes of bunnies. They are little bunnies that can be kept in small shelters and are not great for meat production. Then they are the bigger ones that need a lot of space to live in. These are the bunnies that are raised for meat production and mating.
– When it comes to feeding bunnies you need to understand that they are vegetarians, so you can’t feed them meat. You should feed them chewy vegetables like carrots and cabbages. You may also give them rabbit pellets since they have a lot of nutrients which will help them germinate more powerful and healthier. A supplementary diet of hay or alfalfa may be provided to them as well.
– You must decide if you wish to keep indoor or outdoor rabbits. If you would like to raise outdoor bunnies then you must be sure you to offer protection for them. You must build them shelter and a protective fence. Rabbit houses should be made from metal cages or wood hutches because bunnies can eat on the wood.
Rearing rabbits is not the simplest thing to do but at the same time its not that difficult. Just manage them by giving them good housing, feeding them right and also some bit of cuddling.
