When beginning pig farming you should first plan on where you want your domestic swine to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired pig pen which is spacious as well. You must place your pig pen in a flat area that is free from mud that can being insects.
Your pig pen should be large enough to accommodate all your domestic swine and should be comfortable to your pigs as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The surrounding fence must be buried six inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.
To absorb smells that the pigs produce you may put hay plus straws on the ground. You may also design parts in the house where your pigs can feed, sleep and relieve themselves. A good roofing is needed as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rain.
After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right swine breed for your project. This needs to be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your pigs from a seller who has found out what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.
Once your swine are in their houses all you need to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food plus clean water on daily bases. Also remember to clean the pen every once in a while to ensure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A healthy pig will produce quality meat thus giving you more income.
