When starting out in pig farming you should first plan on where you want your domestic swine to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired swine pen which is spacious as well. You must place your swine pen in a flat place that is free from mud that may attract insects.

Your swine pen should be large enough to accommodate all your domestic swine and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire and concrete slabs. The fence must be buried six inches deep in the ground so the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will make sure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.

To absorb odours that the pigs produce you can put hay and straws on the floor. You can even design areas in the pen where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A nice roofing is required as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rain.

After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in getting the right swine breed for your task. This must be done carefully. Make sure that you purchase your swine from a seller who has found out what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.

Once your pigs are in their houses all you need to do is take good care of them. This can be done by providing them with food plus clean water everyday. Keep in mind to clean the pen every occasionally to make sure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A proper pig will produce quality meat thus giving you more income.
