When beginning pig farming you should first plan on where you want your pigs to call home. For pig housing you should construct a well aired swine pen which is spacious as well. You must place your pig pen in a flat area that is free from mud that can attract insects.

Your swine pen must be large enough to accommodate your swines and should be comfortable to your swine as well. To make it comfortable you may install hog wire plus concrete slabs. The fence must be buried six inches deep in the ground so that the pigs don’t dig under it. Concrete slabs will ensure that the floor is proper and easy to clean.

To absorb odours that the swine produce you may put hay plus straws on the floor. You can also design areas in the pen where your pigs can feed, rest and relieve themselves. A nice roofing is required as well to protect your swine from extreme weather like heat and rainwater.

After you have built a pig pen you then go ahead in choosing the right swine breed for your project. This has to be done carefully. Make sure that you buy your pigs from a seller who has learned what are high quality pigs and what are mediocre breeds.

Once your pigs are in their houses all you have to do is take good care of them. You can do this by providing them with food and clean water everyday. Also remember to clean the pen every occasionally to ensure that bacteria doesn’t grow in the pen. A healthy hog will produce quality meat thus bringing you more income.
